0-10 years JOB DESCRIPTION: Unit Specific Protocols 1.Meet the patient and family on arrival to the unit. 2.Send appropriate referrals and communicate with consultants. 3.Ensure completion of patient records at the time of discharge. 4.Respond promptly to any nurse’s urgent request for help in caring for any patient. 5.Respond promptly to “Code Blue” announcements. 6.Knowledge of BLS. 7.Prepare discharge summary for patients under their care. 8.Comply with all Hospital Policies and procedures. 9.Participate in the Hospital’s quality improvement plan. 10.Participate in clinical and non-clinical training programs organized by the Department and the Hospital. 11.Display professional behavior with patients, colleagues and other Hospital staff. 12.Take history and perform examination of the patient. Male doctors shall ensure presence of a nurse or female colleague if examining a female patient. 13.To take charge of the patients from the resident on previous duty. 14. Inform the patient’s condition to consultant SOS.. Assist in Specialized procedures 15.Insert peripheral intravenous catheters when required. 16.Insert invasive vascular access lines only under supervision. 17.Carry out invasive diagnostic procedures such as paracentesis, thoracocentesis, and liver biopsy, kidney biopsy only upon the directions of the consultant and under strict supervision. • Take appropriate blood samples in case of difficulty by phlebotomist or nurses Patient and family education • To maintain the confidentiality of patient. • To provide patient & family education. • To provide diagnosis specific patient and family education. Documentation 18.Document history & physical examination within 24 hours of admission 19.Write daily progress notes at least once in 24 hours and more frequently if patient condition requires more frequent observations. 20.Shifting and receiving notes. 21.Write all orders in legible writing in the “Physician Order Sheet”, after confirmation with a senior colleague or Consultant. 22.Follow up on investigations sent and communicate results to the consultant. Document such communications and the resultant necessary orders. 23.Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement. 24.To formulate the Process Improvement programs and carry on Quality Initiatives in the department. 25.To perform all other jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work.

To perform the trend analysis for the same, as and when, required. 5. Optimization of various processes, to enhance the efficiency, in the department of radio diagnosis and laboratories. 6. Maintains turnaround time of diagnostics and reporting in the departments of laboratories and radio-diagnosis. Identify bottlenecks in the achieving the same and alleviating those bottlenecks. 7. Optimization of the bed allotment and resource utilization, to ensure effective functioning in the IPD operations. 8. Coordinate operations and personnel activities to meet departmental objectives related to the provision of services within designated areas. 9. Nodal officer for grievance redressal, if any.
